This past week I had the pleasure of taking my mother to a long-awaited trip to New York, and specifically Broadway. She’s a huge Broadway fan, originally being from New York, and we bought tickets to Hugh Jackman’s Music Man in 2019, right before COVID. We have had the tickets for 2 1/2 years, so this trip has been on the books for a long time. We decided to make the best of it and grab as many shows as we could, we had a lot to make up for since my mom hadn’t been to NY in 2 years (she typically takes a trip about once a year). So, 5 nights and 6 days in New York, we saw 7 shows, a mix of plays (comedies and dramas) and musicals.
First off, Hugh Jackman didn’t disappoint. Nor did the 6 other shows we saw. But Music Man was the reason we went. And we had a blast!
I haven’t lived with my mom in decades, nor have we spent a week together in a while, but we travel well together, we like a-lot of the same things, and we both brought our patience!
I learned a-lot from my mom this week, things I probably already know, but is always a good reminder. I always like to share with my readers when I’m reminded of life’s lessons.
- Walk slow so you don’t miss anything.
- Talk to EVERYONE you see; you’ll always learn something.
- Laugh a lot, with friends or strangers.
- Breakfast is still the most important meal of the day.
- You need to keep moving your body, so your body will keep moving.
- Always stop at Cartier and Tiffany’s (just a family tradition!) You don’t have to buy anything, but the scenery is amazing!
- Don’t waste time waiting in line.
- Eat dessert!
- Always buy something when you are in NYC, so when someone asked where you got it you can tell them “New York”!
- Time goes fast. Faster than we know. Treasure the moments.
- Mom’s are a blessing…….and I’m the lucky one to have a mom so terrific!
Love you mom!
Make it a great day!
