Last weekend, we celebrated my mom Carole’s 90th birthday. Family and friends came from across the country to be with her. There were hugs, stories, laughter, and plenty of photos. But what stayed with me most was the sight of everyone in one place, gathered around a woman we love. At 90, Mom has given us a lifetime of memories. This weekend, we got to make many more together.
It reminded me how easy it is to let busy schedules push family time to “when things slow down.” The truth is, life rarely slows down on its own. We have to make the call, book the trip, gather around the table, and show up for one another while we can. I’m grateful for everyone who made the journey to celebrate Mom. Their presence was the greatest gift.
May today’s message give you a little advantage: make time for the people who matter most.
