Good morning,
Every now and then you get that opportunity in your life to do something you can’t pass up. One of those “bucket list” items that you know will be so great. Last night was one of those times for me.
When me friend Karla threw out that initial email that she had tickets to the Academy of Country Music Awards being held in my own town, my fingers flew to the keyboard. I have been know to enjoy country music and the artists that sing it more that any other genre, and can do a little boot scootin’ as well!
I’m not one to get too excited about an event until I’m right up upon it, so on Sunday morning, the excitement began, but it wasn’t until my driver picked me up, then we picked up my good friend Lynn and the rest of the gang, Christie, Jeanie and Karla, that the anticipation really started soaking in.
The event on one’s bucket list is just that, what in on your list. Everything else that surrounds it is the amazing gift that you get to experience with your friends and the people that you meet and greet along the way. Everything we do is a lesson. My mother would say we are learning new experiences, and she is right (oh gosh, did I just say my mother is right?)
Some would have past up the opportunity to go to the ACM’s because they were too busy, or it was Sunday night and they didn’t want to be out late, or they didn’t want to drive an hour and fight all the traffic. We can find all the excuses we want when we have a glass half empty. But when we decide that we want a glass half full, we can then have a full life, along with a balanced healthy life. When we push ourselves out of our comfort zone and start taking care of the most important person we know, ourselves, we can then start taking care of others.
And yes, that means having fun, letting go, getting crazy, singing at the top of your lungs with Miranda Lambert, Kenny Chesney and Brooks and Dunn! So I have a little sore throat this morning and I’m moving a little so, but it was so worth it!
What I didn’t expect last night, was the moments of pure emotion.
- Connecting with new friends that I had not been out with before that were part of our group. But women can do that. Regardless of the bad rap we get, girls just wanna have fun!
- How you can run into people you know in a crowd of over 70,000;
- Striking up a conversation with a perfect stranger waiting in line and talking about the amazing outfit she has on and it obviously making her feel even more amazing that she looked;
- Then there was the little girl, in the most beautiful blue Cinderella dress, with a hat on that covered the fact that she had no hair, and a mask on her face so she could not breath the germs in the air………this was on her bucket list too. But I had a feeling her list was much shorter than most.
