“When people talk, listen completely. Most people never listen.” – Ernest Hemingway
Listening is the foundation of any good relationship. Great leaders listen to what their customers and prospects want and need, and they listen to the challenges those customers face. They listen to colleagues and are open to new ideas. They listen to their employees – everyone from the receptionist to the shareholders and investors. Leaders listen to what their competitors are doing and saying. We learn from listening. Knowledge is power, and you can’t learn if you are talking and not listening.
Listening is an art, and when I am with my clients I remind them that part of being a good leader is allowing others to be heard in their presence and how important it makes the one they are with feel.
Leaders are powerful people, especially when they utilize the tools right in front of their faces.
That, as they say, is why God gave us two ears and one mouth!
Make it a great day!
