Setting Goals

Monday, January 6, 2014

Good morning and Happy New Year!

It’s a new year, a fresh start, out with the old and in with the new!  Time to throw out those bad habits and really make some New Year’s Resolutions, but keep them this time, right, past the end of January!  Well, I am here to help you with setting some achievable goals and making sure you stay on track to getting what you want today, tomorrow and through out the year! Remember, you can have anything you want, and accomplish anything you want to accomplish, the key is how bad do you want it and how much do you believe in yourself?

So, if you have always set goals or resolutions, and bagged them before you really even started, let’s try something different.  Why not?  If the old didn’t work, let’s step outside your comfort zone.  What do you have to lose?

I challenge you to set 4 goals, yes only 4.  For now.  2 personal and 2 professional.  Let’s start out slow and when we are well on our way to getting to those goals, we can certainly add more, but the biggest mistake people make is setting up 10 goals and then they are overwhelmed and toss them all.

Now be SMART about them.  Goals should be Simple, Measurable, Attractive, Realistic, and Timed.  And once you have made decisions on your goals, and put them in writing, place them somewhere you can see them everyday.  Be honest with yourself, and take a step toward that goal everyday.  Do what you say you are going to do, no matter how uncomfortable it may be. You know the saying, “No Pain, No Gain”, push yourself, make it happen and get to the top of that mountain you want to climb.  Don’t let anything, or anyone, stop you from what you want to do, because you can do it!

I have attached a form for Goal Setting to help you get started, (it also gives you some additional ideas on goals to focus on, so don’t let it scare you, still start with just 4!).  So now you have no excuses, and if you need an Executive Coach to help you be accountable, give me a call and let’s talk.  I still have a few openings left for 2014 and we can see if I’m a fit for you!

Good luck, and good goal setting!
