What’s Behind Your Mask?

Monday, October 12, 2015

Good morning,

We spend a lot of time with some people and we think we know them.  It’s interesting to me that most of the time we all wear masks and are who we want people to think we are. But on occasion, something happens and we take that mask off, consciously and unconsciously.

Consciously, we take the mask off when we feel good about the people around us, and we feel good about ourselves as well.  We open up to giving pieces of ourselves to others, and if we are lucky, it can enrich their lives and in return we are better for it.

Unconsciously, our masks slip away and we show people who we really are, and it’s not always a pretty site. This happens when we don’t feel good about ourselves and are looking for others to blame.  It’s usually awkward, and leaves others questioning our intentions, credibility and character.

Either way, the impact is powerful.  It can enrich your individuality and have people want to emulate you, or it can instantly have people loose respect and trust in you.  It’s a choice really, so choice wisely. Your thoughts become your words, your words become your actions, your actions become your habits and your habits become your character.
