Like most golf fans, and even the not-so-golf fans, you can’t help but be wooed to the TV on Masters Tournament weekend. Just the beauty of Augusta pulls you in if your television is on, or computer, or phone, whatever device you are on. I stopped at the car wash Sunday morning, and three folks in the waiting area were watching it on their phone, so yes, some are addicted. A lot of folks I talked to were hoping for a Tiger comeback, which didn’t happen, but the passion and tenacity he put into his game this weekend is a lesson on its own.
I love golf. Love to play it, love to watch it, love to talk about it. And I know my husband gets tired of my love for it at times, but it is what it is. So, he puts up with it.
While watching the Masters’ this weekend, I learned some lessons that we all probably already know, but it’s always a good reminder. I hope you can take a few with you along your journey from fairways to greens.
- Be fully present.
- Bring your patience.
- Keep working on your game – some will be great, and some not so great. Hold onto to the great ones.
- Notice the beauty that surrounds you as you play.
- It’s always a good idea to stay out of trouble – trees, sand, water.
- When playing your worst, it’s always good to stay quiet and keep good sportsmanlike conduct.
- Don’t take it so seriously, you’re there to have fun.
- Play with people you like; it makes the bad days better.
- Remember the great shots; it keeps you coming back.
Make it a great day!
